As you will read in our College Institution brochure, this teacher education is more than teacher preparation, it’s an educational training system that promotes the optimum development of the human potential.

In addition to college classes, students who successfully enroll in MTC-S are required to intern (student teach through a practicum process) at one of the many approved work experience sites in the Sacramento area. MTC-S will assist you in locating an approved Montessori school site. These paid student teaching positions ensure hands on training and maximum exposure to Montessori learning concepts.

A successful Montessori classroom requires a skilled and well-trained teacher who creates a positive learning environment for children. The child’s play and learning experiences are focused around the purposeful development of order, concentration, coordination and independence. The classroom provides the child with a large variety of activities that are designed with specific purposes and procedures in mind. Montessori Teachers College (MTC) serves the Northern California region with Montessori teacher education programs that provide the highest standards of instruction and scholarship. Our training offers techniques in classroom organization, instruction in use of Montessori and other manipulative materials, and an understanding of rationale and sequence of the prepared environment. It also includes training in other educational techniques that complement the Montessori environment.

MTC works in tandem with the elementary programs of the California Montessori Project’s, Charter Montessori public schools. The charter further supports the student teaching and supports training through its five respective campuses with a mentor program of Montessori certificated individuals.

Montessori Teachers College-Sacramento (MTC-S) is an approved teacher education institution. The Montessori Teachers College is licensed to operate by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau for Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Education. It provides the Northern California region with Montessori Teacher Education that brings the highest standards of instruction and scholarship. It offers Early Childhood and Elementary training programs. All programs are fully accredited through MACTE, the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
